Nasal Grooming Tips for Men… and Women
Your nose is one of your most striking facial features. Like it or not, people judge you based on the look of your nose. Therefore, it’s imperative that you keep it clean, neat and looking its very best.
Invest in a Specialized Trimmer
One of the easiest ways to ensure that your nose is flattering to your appearance is to tame wild hairs that poke out of your nostrils. Yes, nose hair serves a healthy purpose; it helps filter various unnecessary particles from entering your body. However, if you trim the visible strands, there will still be plenty of hair left to take care of that job.
Whether you are a man or a woman, the best tool for cleaning up nose hairs is a trimmer that’s designed especially for the task. A trimmer is less painful than tweezers and less poky than scissors. Hold your nose with one hand, and twist the tip upward to expose the hair. Use the other hand to swipe the trimmers around the nostril.
Resolve Ingrown Hairs
Although trimming nasal hair helps you look your best, it can also lead to ingrown hairs if you aren’t careful. That’s because cutting off the end of a hair can leave it rather sharp, which can poke your delicate nasal membranes and lead to irritating ingrown hairs. A few careful grooming steps can help loosen ingrowns before they become problematic.
Saturate a rag with extremely warm water and run it around the inside of each nostril. Repeat this action for several minutes per side. If the rag cools off, rewet it. The warm water helps loosen any hairs that are trapped under the skin’s surface.
Then, smooth an antibacterial ointment over the inside of your nasal openings. It will help prevent infection from ingrown hairs and also soften the ends of hairs so they are less likely to become ingrown.
Consider Cosmetic Updates
To truly take your nasal grooming to the next level, consider rhinoplasty. A nose job procedure allows you to craft your nose to the shape you desire and also have medical corrections done in the process. For example, if you have trouble breathing freely through your nose, rhinoplasty can help rectify the situation.
